It is cool dining room furniture sets from Iohanna Pani. Called the Hostis, the sets is consists of extendable / folding table, a chair and a broom-cloth hanger. The table is designed for multi-purpose in terms of space utilization, when in a closed state, the table can accommodate four people, and when open, the table can accommodate up to eight people.
This project examines how people express their individual and social identities through their domestic universes. Sophie Chevalier describe that “Through the use of these objects, people build and express collective and individual identities”. Relationships between people and their community are being mediated by the world of objects.”
Hostic explores the transition between the informal daily meals (private space) and the formal dining with guests (public space). Furthermore, I claim that there is an intermediate state: when the table is not in use. on this state, the table adopts a decorative condition where the centerpiece plays an important role.
The hostis set include a folding table, a chair and a broom-cloth hanger. The table can be folded in three different state: closed-for four people-, opened -for eight people- and “intermediate state” -when a kind of centerpiece is formed.
