Black and White Volumes of Niu House in Nara, Japan
Small and simple house sometimes makes people start asked about how people can live in such a tiny area. But Niu House which is created by Yoshihiro Yamamoto Architect Atelier (YYAA) will make people stop by and admire it for a while. The simple house is built for young couple that lives in Nara, Japan.

From the outside, Niu house have prefabs appearance that combined with traditional Japanese residence. The house is so “cubicle” and has two colors: black and white. The white cubic is an open area and the black space is for private area. White open area holds small living room, simple kitchen, public areas, loft area, and compact dining table. Entertaining room contains one flat TV and one simple brown sofa only. It’s so simple!
The black building contains bedroom, bathroom and husband’s soundproof studio. Between two volumes of the house, the architect created a small courtyard that allows air and light pass from side to side the kitchen. The Ueda’s house has warm wood door and fence for sides and back area. There is no fence in front of the main door, only short stone stair. What a simple Japanese house!
